Brenda Quiñonez

As a Mexicana raised in Los Angeles, I value family and community. I received Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Spanish, and Chicano Studies from Loyola Marymount University, and later graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California.

My professional experience includes field counseling, medical social work, program management, various realms of nonprofit work and clinical mental health settings, training and consulting; and, more recently, school-based therapy. I am also a contingent professor in the School of Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University.

My involvement in Comunidad includes social justice advocacy and activism for communities of color, in particular, the migrant population and underserved inner-city youth of both Los Angeles and Albuquerque. Currently, I serve on the Board for El Puente de Encuentros, a non-profit that supports and guides students of color entering the behavioral/mental health field. I am dedicated to change and equity for our Comunidades.
